There are many beauty products available in big box stores, online and in beauty specialty shops but if you are anything like me you enjoy being able to pronounce the ingredients in the products you are using. When it comes to combatting age spots, sun spots, wrinkles and puffy or sagging eyes, there are many essential oils that offer healing, antioxidant, anti-aging and elasticity properties. To create an age reversing essential oil treatment, you will need to have a few of your trusted carrier oils, a roller ball applicator or empty 5ml glass bottle and some of the following five oils.

The top 5 essential oils with anti-aging properties

Frankincense

Frankincense is possibly the oldest and most widely used essential oil. Mention of this historic oil dates as far back as biblical times. It is known in many cultures for its healing properties that include the treatment of upset stomachs, inflammation, and illnesses. Frankincense has sought after healing properties and is commonly used to reduce and even remove facial scars as well as wrinkles and fine lines. The healing properties of Frankincense can reverse aging by promoting cellular rejuvenation. Mix two drops of Frankincense essential oil with one tablespoon of sweet almond oil and gently massage onto effected areas twice daily.

Geranium

Geranium is an essential oil that is full of antioxidants and is often referred to as one of the most potent anti-aging essential oils. The antioxidants in the Geranium essential oil combat free radicals. Free radicals are the elements that cause skin discoloration, sagging and wrinkles. In addition to refreshing and rejuvenating skin Geranium can also be used to reduce breakouts. Mix two drops of Geranium essential oil with one tablespoon of jojoba oil and apply every morning and evening. Application of this mixture in the morning will help reduce the impact of free radicals throughout the day, and the nightly application will help skin to heal and tighten while you sleep.

Sandalwood

Sandalwood is a naturally destressing essential oil. The woodsy scent that accompanies Sandalwood will instantly put you at ease and help relax facial muscles. When the muscles are relaxed, the Sandalwood can help reduce puffiness that may be plaguing tired eyes. This essential oil is also excellent at creating a healthy and radiant glow due to its refreshing properties. Mix three drops of Sandalwood essential oil with one tablespoon of pomegranate seed oil and massage for at least thirty seconds onto the cheekbones and gently dab this mixture under each eye that is sagging or puffy.

Clary sage

Clary sage is quite possibly the most popular essential oil when it comes to many types of skin ailments. Clary sage has a healing quality that will work on all aspects of the face. This is a popular essential oil for people who are busy and do not have time to make specific blends for specific areas of concern. Clary sage is able to minimize eye bags and dark circles, tighten loose skin, rejuvenate stressed skin and shrink large pores. Daily application of Clary sage will result in a refreshed and youthful appearance. This is a great oil to blend into a roller ball and keep with you on the go to treat any trouble areas. The astringent properties of Clary sage make it an excellent alternative to astringents after facial cleansing. Mix three drops of Clary safe with 1 tablespoon of coconut oil for an under eye puff and dark circle reducing treatment. Mix ten drops of Clary sage into a glass roller ball applicator and 30 drops of vitamin E oil. The healing properties of the vitamin E mixed with the Clary sage will tighten the skin and shrink large pores.

Rose essential

Rose essential oil helps promote a healthy circulatory system. When Rose essential oil is used for anti-aging benefits, it will help increase the blood circulation to the face and neck. Oxygenated blood creates a naturally healthy glow and rejuvenates tire skin that shows the early signs of aging. Rose essential oils naturally contain collagen which promotes elasticity of the skin. With collagen, the skin becomes tighter, and it helps to reduce fine lines. Three drops of Rose essential oil should be mixed with rosehip seed oil and used twice daily as a moisturizer. This mixture can also reduce age spots when applied directly to age spots up to 4 times daily.

My Wallet and My Face Are Very Thankful For Anti-Aging essential oils

When I decided to start using all natural beauty products with ingredients that I trusted and could pronounce I decided to stop at my local natural health store to stock up on the necessary supplies. All of these anti-aging treatments can be made from scratch in the palm of your hand before each application, or you can mix them into individual glass rollerball applicators. I have always used organic carrier oils from trusted brands and high-quality therapeutic-grade essential oils.

When I was still using beauty store products, my average tube of dark circle eliminating cream cost me roughly twenty dollars. Once it was gone, I had to buy another twenty dollar tube. I have saved a pretty penny by making my own age fighting blends at home. The average cost of a bottle of essential oil can range from ten to thirty dollars, the roller ball applicator bottle is about two dollars, and the carrier oils are typically ten dollars or less. Because essential oils are highly concentrated, I have been able to make about a dozen roller ball bottles for less than forty dollars. This has allowed me to further my collection of oils for treating other ailments.

I keep a bottle of the clary sage in my purse as my go-to oil for its astringent properties. The rose essential oil smells absolutely lovely and leaves my skin feeling refreshed. Within two weeks of use, the dark circles and laugh lines have diminished so much that colleagues have asked me what products I am using.
