Lime, a small, green-peeled citrus fruit, has been used in foods for centuries and was once an essential on ships at sea to prevent Vitamin C deficiencies. Though you might think it is just the flavor that is lime's primary feature, it has been used to keep food from spoiling. The essential oil distilled from the peel has a similar effect and the familiar citrus aroma and can brighten your mind while helping to keep your home clean from germs.

My Favorite Uses For Lime Essential Oil

I am a bit of a fangirl when it comes to almost any citrus oil. Lemon and orange have been long time front runners when it comes to cleaning my kitchen, and orange is featured heavily in my focus mixes.

Lime had taken a back seat for a long time if because I’m not a big fan of the fruit itself. However, I started searching for alternatives to my favorite lemon because of how much I was using. Which citrus-based oil had the same properties but didn’t interfere with that great citrus scent? (It’s one of the reasons I don’t use peppermint oil with my lemon oil. Toothpaste and orange juice, anyone?)

Lime was the perfect addition to supplement. My do-it-yourself cleanser is now almost entirely citrus-based, adding lime to my lemon, orange, and grapefruit mix. There is tea tree in there as well, since it is an incredible cleansing oil, but its woody smell is barely there beneath the refreshing smell of clean.

I don’t think I can go wrong with something that is proven to not only keep my house clean naturally, but also to give me the energy and focus to keep cleaning as well.
